Okaya,

Three battery brands, one system holding them together.

Okaya, MtekPower and DigiPower sit in the same aisle, often in the same shop, sometimes on the same shelf. The work was to let each keep its own identity while everything a customer relies on stays identical across all three.

01 / The Client

A power group selling through a shelf it does not own.

Okaya makes inverter batteries, home and hi-capacity UPS, solar solutions and e-rickshaw batteries, and sells them through a dealer network across India and into APAC, the Middle East and Africa.

The brand line is Chalti Rahe Yeh Zindagi, and the buying journey almost always ends in a shop where a retailer is holding two or three boxes at once.

Alongside Okaya sit MtekPower and DigiPower, two further battery brands pitched at different buyers and different price points. Three brands, one group, and one aisle where all of them have to make sense.

02 / The Challenge

Three brands on one shelf, with nothing held in common.

Left alone, three of your own brands standing side by side read either as three unrelated products or as one product priced three ways. Neither helps the retailer explain them.

A

Difference in the wrong places

When every pack has its own grid, the things that should vary and the things that must not both end up moving.

B

Compliance redrawn every time

Handling marks, the caution block, the statutory notice and the service numbers have to be on every pack and correct every time. Rebuilding them per SKU is how errors get printed.

C

Two websites doing one another's job

A distributor checking manufacturing capability and a homeowner replacing one battery are not the same visit, and one site cannot serve both well.

D

Nothing written down

Without one reference, every new SKU, every new printer and every new agency starts the brand again from memory.

03 / Our Approach

Standardise what the customer relies on. Differentiate only what they choose by.

Consistency is not sameness. The job was to decide, once, which parts of a pack belong to the group and which belong to the brand, and then hold that line everywhere else.

01

Split every pack into fixed and free

Fixed: the caution block, the six handling marks, the statutory notice, the ISO marks, the toll free number, the missed call service, the helpline address and the website. Free: colour, brand lockup, warranty seal and product photography.

02

Give each brand a colour, not a layout

Okaya green, MtekPower blue, DigiPower red, on one grid with the same panel order and the same type hierarchy. What a buyer sees changing is the brand, not the design.

03

Keep the proof in the same place

Warranty seal, capacity, model code and the water level indicator flag land in the same position on all three, so a retailer can compare boxes without turning them over.

04

Write the whole thing into an archive

One reference documenting the group brand end to end, marks, colour, type, packaging and application, so the next SKU and the next printer inherit the system instead of rebuilding it.

05

Separate the two websites by intent

okaya.in carries the group, the plant, the certifications, the international desks and the dealer network. shop.okaya.in carries the cart. Neither has to apologise for the other.

06

Put a film behind the group

A corporate film for the audience that arrives before the shelf, at the scale a distributor or an international partner is actually assessing.

04 / The Work

The system, and the places it shows up.

Packaging first, because that is where the three brands meet, then the film and the two websites that run on the same identity.

Brand and packaging

The system that keeps three brands legible as a group without making them look like the same product.

01Packaging Standardisation

One dieline, three brands

Okaya, MtekPower and DigiPower on the same grid. The caution block, the six handling marks, the statutory notice, the ISO marks, the toll free number and the service route are identical on all three. Colour, lockup, warranty seal and product shot are the only things that change.

02Corporate Film

The group, at the scale a partner needs

A corporate film rather than a product ad, made for the audience that arrives before the shelf. Distributors, institutional buyers and international partners across APAC, the Middle East and Africa, who need to see the manufacturing and the range before they need to see a battery.

Websites

Two sites, two intents, one identity. One carries the group, the other carries the cart.

okaya.in

The group site. Built for the visitor who is evaluating Okaya as a manufacturer and a supplier, not buying a single battery.

  • The full range in one place. Inverter batteries, home UPS, hi-capacity UPS, solar and e-rickshaw batteries, seven categories under one navigation.
  • Proof of the plant. Manufacturing capability, certifications and the leadership team, which is what a distributor checks before a price list.
  • International business, separated. APAC, Middle East and Africa given their own routes rather than buried in a contact form.
  • The dealer network as a tool. A locator that turns national reach into a nearby address.

Direct to Consumer / India

shop.okaya.in

The commerce site. Same brand, same range, but everything corporate stripped out so the page can sell.

  • Sells, rather than explains. The group story stays on okaya.in so the shop can get to product, capacity and price.
  • Sorted by solution. Power and solar split at the top, with combos treated as their own path rather than an afterthought.
  • Built for a considered purchase. Model codes and capacities carried through, because this buyer is matching a battery to an inverter they already own.
  • One identity across both. A customer who arrives from the corporate site, a pack or the film lands somewhere that looks like the same company.

One system, held across everything.

The figures below are the scope of the system as it now stands, counted off the work and the live sites.

0Battery brands running on one packaging system
0Handling marks carried identically on every pack
0Websites, corporate and direct to consumer
0Product categories carried across the corporate site
0International regions given their own route
0Service route shared by all three brands
PackagingOne grid, one panel order and one type hierarchy across Okaya, MtekPower and DigiPower
ComplianceCaution block, six handling marks, statutory notice and ISO marks identical on every pack
ServiceOne toll free number, one helpline address and one missed call service across all three brands
Brand archiveA single reference covering marks, colour, type, packaging and application
Corporate siteSeven product categories, manufacturing capability, certifications, three international desks and a dealer locator
Commerce siteThe same range sold direct, with the corporate story deliberately kept off it

Net effect: a retailer holding three of the group's boxes can tell them apart at a glance and trust all of them for the same reasons.

06 / The Outcome

Consistency that survives the next SKU.

The value of settling which parts of a pack are fixed is that the argument only has to happen once. After that a new capacity, a new model code or a new brand extension is a filling-in exercise rather than a redesign, and the compliance panel is never redrawn by hand.

It also changes what a retailer can say. Three boxes that share a service number, a warranty treatment and a handling panel are three products from one group. Three boxes that share nothing are three gambles.

The same logic runs through the digital side. Two sites, two jobs, one identity, so a customer who arrives from a pack, the film or a dealer lands somewhere that looks like the company they were just introduced to.

Running more than one brand off one shelf?

Brand systems, packaging standardisation, websites and the reference material that keeps all of it consistent as the range grows.
